So in this post I apparently have to brainstorm and maybe choose a topic to do a demonstrative speech on. My lecturer reckons its the easiest if it is based off my interests and I couldn't agree more.
But...
The problem is my interests are makeup, cooking and books. Now I know you're going to say there's a lot that I can do with those three interest especially cooking and makeup.
Okay let's see what can I do with cooking? Like I have mentioned in my last post, it's quite a hassle if I showed and do a full step to step how-to on a dish. Imagine the oily mess that comes with deep frying churros or stained tables and fingers from food colouring from making macarons. It's such a pity that we can't hold our demonstrative speech in a kitchen if not I will be cooking up a storm...and also take more than the allocated time.
So I suppose if I'm not going to cook from scratch, I might do something decorative. Maybe how to decorate a cupcake with fondant. Fondants are basically edible and sweet play-doh and they are so much fun to use. That will capture everyone's attention. Another idea could be puff pastry. Since I have zero patience to make the pastry from scratch, I might just cheat for a bit and use ready-made, store-bought pastry. I'm not going to make a whole pie in class of course, but I can show them how to cut and fold and tuck puff pastry so they can be all sorts of gorgeous crisp and crumbly bread. Tempered chocolate is another idea. But it's quite hard to do with out the equipment. And drinks oh yes drinks! In Lendu where it's always hot and sunny, showing the class how to make Italian soda. So maybe caramel snaps and then serve it with some ice cream.
Makeup is always the interest that lies closest to heart. I'm generally good at doing almost the generic looks; natural, bridal, smokey etc. But I can also do some special effects makeup as well. Since there are three male students in the class, monster makeup might definitely attract their eyes ad ears. The only thing about special effects makeup is that if I decide to do this it would be quite expensive and I will have to order liquid latex at least a month beforehand. It wouldn't be such a waste though, in my opinion, since I might reuse the latex for another project in my drama course.
Another interest that I forgot to mention in my previous post is that I love, love, love making gift boxes for people. My best friend Adelia gets mine quite often as she an angel and she lives in Singapore so I send her over some stuff like candy or makeup. But I make sure those things are gorgeously(and securely) packed and sent off to her. And since we would be presenting it in late January or early February when it's nearing Valentine's day it could be a good occasion to show them how to put together one or show them how to gift wrap a present nicely. Maybe even show them how to make a loop flower bow and all.
All in all, I actually think I have a few options in this. I have yet to decide which one is the best though.
